Tahuna Breaks are officially back — and they’re hitting The Assembly in Christchurch on 5th December 2025. After nearly ten years away from the stage, the Aotearoa funk favourites are reuniting for a limited run of shows, bringing their unmistakable blend of funk, soul, roots, and electro back to live audiences.
Known for their high-energy performances, tight horn lines, and genre-fusing sound, Tahuna Breaks became a household name throughout the 2000s and 2010s. Their three studio albums — Reflections, Black, Brown & White, and Shadow Light — along with their explosive live release Live 10, cemented them as one of the country’s most dynamic and crowd-moving acts. From Rhythm & Vines and Homegrown to WOMAD, Splore, and international shows across Australia and the UK, their live sets became synonymous with groove, musicianship, and pure good times.
“We’ve all missed that connection — with each other and with live audiences,” says guitarist James Jenkin. “So we thought, let’s fire it up again, bring the grooves back, and have some fun.”
This special one-night show at The Assembly will feature a full set spanning all three albums, including fan favourites like Giddy Up, Empower Me, Reflections, Black, Brown & White, and more. Expect big brass, tight rhythms, and the full-force energy that made Tahuna Breaks such a beloved part of Aotearoa’s live music scene.
